Sending flowers to hospital that arrive safely

Florists from the region, online flower services with parcel dispatch, and flower services with their own courier such as TOM FLOWERS. Our couriers deliver from Basel to Winterthur and Lucerne directly to the hospital and are familiar with the local procedures. Please ask each provider what happens if the hospital does not accept the flowers, for example because the patient has been transferred or is in the intensive care unit.

Our own couriers know the hospitals and hand the flowers to the right contacts, depending on the hospital either at reception or with the internal mail service, verifying the name. The hospital only accepts flowers if it can bring them to the room. This applies from Basel to Winterthur and Lucerne, including Zurich, Lake Zurich, Zug, Aarau, Baden and all places in between. To the rest of Switzerland we deliver with logistics partners in a specially developed flower box with a water supply.

This often happens spontaneously and unexpectedly. In such cases the hospital does not accept the flowers. Our courier takes them back with them, and we contact you. By arrangement, TOM FLOWERS offers a free second delivery for hospital deliveries, including to another address, as long as the flowers are fresh. With a parcel service the flowers would be lost in this case, and with many delivery services a second delivery incurs an additional charge.

No, flowers are not permitted in intensive care units for reasons of hygiene. In this case, the courier will take the flowers back, and following consultation we will deliver them free of charge after the transfer to a general ward or to the patient's home.

Cut flowers, as we deliver them: hospitals do not permit potted plants or arrangements with soil. Our Mono-Bouquets come without foliage and with flower food. You will find a specific, suitable selection of flowers under Get well soon.

Flowers from the Express selection are delivered the next day if you order by midnight. All others are delivered on your preferred date, at the earliest the day after tomorrow, as we purchase them fresh from the grower especially for you. We deliver Monday to Saturday, in the morning or afternoon.

That depends on the provider: some send via a parcel service, whilst others deliver each order individually by courier. At TOM FLOWERS, delivery costs a flat rate of CHF 5, and it is free from two bouquets onwards, because our couriers follow planned routes rather than making individual journeys. A second delivery, should the patient have been moved to another ward or discharged, is free of charge. Bouquets are available from CHF 45, with a greetings card included.

No. Most hospitals have vases on the ward. Our bouquets come with a water supply and therefore stay fresh until they are placed in a vase. Should you wish to continue enjoying the flowers at home after discharge, you may order a vase as well.
