The flowering period of the airy lilac stems is not very long. It is, however, a connoisseur's flower of delicate elegance – perfect for special occasions, table decorations or a fleeting moment of pure beauty.

Lilac has woody stems, which prefer a long diagonal cut with a knife. This allows them to absorb as much water as possible, as lilac needs a great deal of water. Place the lilac stems in a clean vase with water. Add flower food to the water in the correct proportion.
Ideally, place the lilac in a cool spot and not next to a fruit bowl, in a draught or in bright sunlight.
Check regularly that the lilac has enough water and top up the water if necessary. Ideally, change the water daily. After a few days, cut the stems again at an angle.
