Dahlias like it cool: both the location and the water. This extends their not-so-long shelf life.
Cut about 1-2 cm off the stem at an angle with a sharp knife and place the dahlias in a clean vase with plenty of cool water. Add flower food to the water. No leaves should be in the water.
Do not place dahlias next to a fruit bowl, in a draught, or in direct sunlight.
Regularly check if the dahlias have enough water, and top up if necessary. Ideally, cut the dahlias at an angle again daily.
