Cut about 1-2 cm of the stem diagonally with a sharp knife and place the allium directly into a clean vase with about 5 cm of water to prevent the onion smell from developing. Add the flower food to the water.
Do not place Allium next to a fruit bowl, in a draft, or in bright sunlight.
Check regularly to make sure the flowers have enough water and refill if necessary. After 1-2 days, cut the stems diagonally again and change the water to prevent the water from developing an oniony odor.
Alliums are characterized by their long shelf life. They can be dried.
