Spray rose care tips

The spray rose represents love and beauty. The many delicate blossoms and their beautiful colors create a lovely bouquet.

Because of their finer and more delicate heads and flowers, they are also called miniature roses and present a more delicate and romantic image.

The spray rose differs from the rose due to its small branches and numerous flowers.

With proper care, spray roses will give you joy for 7-10 days.

1. Suitable vase for spray roses

  1. The right vase for spray roses

Choose a medium-sized and clean vase for the spray roses so that the flowers are submerged in water up to at least half of the stems.

For the approx. 50 - 60 cm long spray roses from Tom Flowers we recommend the TF Vase Medium .

2. Fill the vase with water

Fill the vase with lukewarm water to at least 2/3 full, or so that the stems are in the water just below the leaves.

Dissolve the enclosed care product in water.

3. Remove leaves

Remove as many leaves and thorns from the bottom up so that only the top 2-3 shoots remain.

The leaves must not be allowed to protrude into the water later on. Leaves in the water will quickly begin to rot and cause the flowers to wilt.

4. Cut spray roses diagonally

Using a sharp, clean knife or TF flower scissors, cut the spray roses about 3-5 cm long and at an angle. The larger the foam-like, angled surface in the stem, the better the water absorption.

After cutting, place the rose immediately in water so that the cut area does not dry out and no air gets into the water channels of the rose stems.

5. No sun, warmth and fruit

To prevent the spray roses from wilting or rotting too quickly, do not place them in direct sunlight, in a place that is too warm, or near fruit.

Spray roses need regular care

Once the spray roses are properly established, they need to be cared for regularly: Change the water every 2-3 days or when the water becomes cloudy. Prune the spray roses again with a sharp knife as described above. The hotter the days, the more often you should prune.

Good to know:

Spray roses are also known as “sweetheart roses” in English-speaking countries and are often used for weddings, proms or other formal occasions for arrangements that are worn on the arm or chest.

Tips & Tricks for Spray Roses

How long do fresh spray roses last in a vase?

It's natural that the lifespan of fresh spray roses cannot be accurately predicted. Top-quality, day-fresh spray roses should stay fresh for seven to ten days with proper care. However, the actual lifespan depends on many factors.

How do you properly cut spray roses in a vase?

Spray roses should be cut diagonally with a clean, sharp knife or TF floral shears . This maximizes water absorption without damaging the water channels in the stem.

Why not place spray roses next to fruit?

Never place your spray roses next to a fruit bowl. Ripe fruit emits ethylene, a gas that causes premature flowering.

Why shouldn't you put spray roses in the sun?

Never place spray roses in direct sunlight. Otherwise, the flowers will evaporate more water than they can absorb through their stems and will quickly die of thirst.

Why aren't the leaves allowed to reach into the water?

Leaves that extend into the water promote the formation of bacteria in the water. These, in turn, attack the cut flowers, leading to faster wilting.

How warm should the water in the vase be?

For spray roses in a vase we recommend lukewarm water.

What is the significance of spray roses?

The spray rose symbolizes love and beauty.

Can you dry spray roses?

Spray roses will last even longer when dried. To do this, remove the spray roses from the water at their most beautiful stage, when in full bloom, and hang them upside down in a warm, dry place until the flowers are completely dry.
