Ranunculus care tips

Ranunculus are beautiful and delicate flowers that, like anemones, are early bloomers. Both the small-headed ranunculus and the lush, grand ranunculus enchant any room with their elegant shapes. Follow a few simple tips and you'll keep your ranunculus fresh for 5-7 days.

1. The right vase for ranunculus

Choose a small and clean vase for the ranunculus so that the flowers are submerged in water up to half of their stems.

For the approximately 40 cm long ranunculus from Tom Flowers we recommend the TF Vase Small .

2. Fill the vase with water

Fill the ranunculus vase with cold water so that the stems are about halfway submerged. Dissolve the included care product completely in the water before adding the stems.

3. Remove leaves

Remove all but a few leaves and side shoots from the ranunculus. The remaining leaves should not be allowed to protrude into the water.

4. Cut ranunculus correctly

Cut ranunculus slightly diagonally with a sharp knife or TF flower scissors .

After cutting the ranunculus, place it immediately in the prepared vase so that the cut surfaces do not dry out and no air gets into the water channels of the stems.

5. No sun, warmth and fruit

To prevent the ranunculus from wilting or rotting too quickly, do not place it in direct sunlight, in a place that is too warm, or near fruit.

Ranunculus needs regular care

Ranunculus can absorb a lot of water through their stems. Change the water every two days and cut the stems again.

Tips & Tricks for Ranunculus

How long do fresh ranunculus last in a vase?

It's natural that the lifespan of fresh ranunculus is unpredictable. Top-quality, day-fresh ranunculus should stay fresh for 5-7 days with proper care. However, the actual lifespan depends on many factors, including proper handling, regular maintenance, and, finally, temperature: The warmer it is, the faster ranunculus wilts.

How do you properly cut ranunculus in a vase?

Ranunculus can be cut straight across with a clean, sharp knife or TF flower scissors . This maximizes water absorption without damaging the water channels in the stem.

Why not place ranunculus next to fruit?

Never place your ranunculus next to a fruit bowl. Ripe fruit emits ethylene, a gas that causes premature withering.

Why shouldn't you put ranunculus in the sun?

Never place ranunculus in direct sunlight or any other warm location. Otherwise, the flowers will evaporate more water than they can absorb through their stems and will quickly die of thirst.

Why shouldn't the leaves reach into the water?

Leaves that extend into the water promote the formation of bacteria in the water. These, in turn, attack the cut flowers, leading to faster wilting.

What water temperature for ranunculus in a vase?

We recommend placing ranunculus in cold water.

What is the significance of ranunculus?
