Choose a tall, large vase for gladiolas, ensuring at least one-third of the stems are submerged in water. Most importantly, use only a clean vase.
For the approx. 90-100 cm long gladiolas from Tom Flowers we recommend the TF Vase Large .
Fill the vase with cold water so that the stems are in the water at least just below the leaves.
Dissolve the enclosed care product completely in the water before placing the stems in the water.
Remove 1-2 leaves from the bottom of the stem. It's best to remove these with a clean knife or carefully by hand. It's important that the remaining leaves don't protrude into the water later.
Cut the gladiolas slightly diagonally with a sharp knife or TF flower scissors .
After cutting, place the gladiolas immediately in the prepared vase so that the cut surfaces do not dry out and no air gets into the water channels of the stems.
To prevent gladiolas from wilting or rotting too quickly, do not place them in direct sunlight, in a location that is too warm, or near fruit.
Gladioli can absorb a lot of water through their stems. Make sure the gladioli always have enough water, changing the water every two days and re-cutting the stems.

It's natural that the lifespan of fresh gladiolas cannot be accurately predicted. Top-quality gladiolas, fresh from day one, should stay fresh for 5-7 days with proper care. However, the actual lifespan depends on many factors, such as proper handling, regular maintenance, and, finally, temperature: The warmer it is, the faster gladiolas wilt.
Gladioli can be cut straight across with a clean, sharp knife or TF flower scissors . This maximizes water absorption without damaging the water channels in the stem.
Never place your gladiolas next to a fruit bowl. Ripe fruit emits ethylene, a gas that causes premature flowering.
Never place gladiolas in direct sunlight or any other warm location. Otherwise, the flowers will evaporate more water than they can absorb through their stems and will quickly die of thirst.
Leaves that extend into the water promote the formation of bacteria in the water. These, in turn, attack the cut flowers, leading to faster wilting.
We recommend placing gladioli in cold water.
Gladiolus symbolize pride.
It's especially important to note that gladiolas are not suitable for consumption under any circumstances. Keep the flowers away from children and pets.
