Anemones care tips

Anemones, better known as windflowers, are among the most popular early bloomers. Their delicate, vibrantly colored blossoms spread a springtime feeling early in the year.

Delivered still sealed, the elegant flowers will stay fresh for up to six days with a few simple care tips.

1. The right vase for anemones

Choose a small and clean vase for the anemones so that the flowers are about 1/3 submerged in water.

For the approx. 40 - 50 cm long anemones from Tom Flowers we recommend the TF Vase Small .

2. Fill the vase with water

Anemones shouldn't be placed too deep in the water. Fill the vase with cold water so that the stems are only about one-third submerged.

If the anemones are placed too deep in the water, the soft stems can quickly begin to rot. Dissolve the included care product completely in the water before placing the stems in the water.

3. Place anemones in the vase

Place the anemones in the prepared vase immediately upon receipt. Anemones need to be freshly cut after about 2-3 days.

4. No sun, warmth and fruit

To prevent the anemones from wilting or rotting too quickly, do not place them in direct sunlight, in a place that is too warm, or near fruit.

Anemones need regular care

Anemones can absorb a lot of water through their stems. Therefore, refill the vase regularly. You don't need to change the water completely.

Tips & Tricks for Anemones

How long do fresh anemones last in a vase?

It's natural that the lifespan of fresh anemones cannot be accurately predicted. Top-quality, day-fresh anemones, whose flowers are still closed at the time of delivery, should bloom for up to seven days with proper care. However, the actual lifespan depends on many factors, such as proper handling, regular maintenance, and, finally, temperature: The warmer it is, the faster anemones wilt.

How do you properly cut anemones in a vase?

Anemones should be cut straight again approximately 2-3 days after receiving them. We recommend using TF flower scissors .

Why not place anemones next to fruit?

Never place your anemones next to a fruit bowl. Ripe fruit emits ethylene, a gas that causes premature flowering.

Why shouldn't you put anemones in the sun?

Never place anemones in direct sunlight. Otherwise, the flowers will evaporate more water than they can absorb through their stems and will quickly die of thirst.

What water temperature is best for anemones in a vase?

We recommend placing anemones in cold water.

What is the significance of anemones?

Anemones represent anticipation and hope.
